"Why
do people give dinner parties?" Jane Kenyon asks. "Why
did I say I'd come?"
Why
do people give writing classes? Why did you say you'd go? During
these winter and spring writing times together we will explore
questions we find, directly and indirectly, in selections of prose
and poetry of centuries past-not to figure out why Kenyon wishes
she hadn't gone, but to find how our own comings and goings do
or do not fit in with our deeper needs and wishes.
